To The Window, To The Wall!

A line of tall trees,
Branches hanging from above,
A road that leads to the sunset.
A tall tree--
Thick and Bold--
Watching above us.
The trees are gone,
What used to be a home.
But something always reminds--
A road that leads to the sunset.

-- Winter 5:32 P.M. --
The sky fills with shades of red and purple.
Street lights begin to shine bright.
In the distance,
I can still see homes.

The trees and their branches,
Lit by the sun on the horizon.

Awkward Idioms!

THIS IS THE MOST AWKWARD POST.
I'M SORRY.

You're the Apple of my Eye!
Not a moldy apple though,
or one filled with worms.
A nice, bright red one!
I'm glad I'm not colorblind.
Let's Cut to the Chase.

May I Shoot a Photo of You?
I mean take a photo.
Not shoot you with a gun.
I do like shooting people though.
With my camera.
Shoot people with my camera.

Yeah.

To my Mourners,
Live life to the Fullest,
Young and Free.
Use your Strength and Talents.
We were Born with them for a Reason.

Don't Dread on the Bad Things in Life,
They will Hold You Back.
Don't Chase for Wealth,
Be Grateful for what You Have,
It may be what Others Don't Have.
Don't have Expectations,
For Disappointment may Come.

Death can take You by Surprise--
Be hidden in all Forms.

Do Travel the All Corners of the World.
Do Love your Family and Friends.
Your Experiences and Loved Ones
Are what Matter Most in the End.

Not your High-Paying Job.
Not Ivy-League Schools.
Not Material and Money.

It's Who had the Most Fun in Life,
The Best Experiences and People in Their Life.
It's Better to have Someone over Something.
We Only have One Life--
One should be Enough.

This is NOT my poem, but I thought I should share it.  It's really funny actually. Ok, maybe only Parker and I think it's funny. Here it is anyway; written in Chinese:

氏拾是十獅屍,適石室。

石室拭,氏始試食是十獅。
食時,始識是十獅屍,實十石獅屍。
試釋是事。

Here is the Translation:
Lion-Eating Poet in the Stone Den
In a stone den was a poet called Shi, who was a lion addict, and had resolved to eat ten lions.
He often went to the market to look for lions.
At ten o'clock, ten lions had just arrived at the market.
At that time, Shi had just arrived at the market.
He saw those ten lions, and using his trusty arrows, caused the ten lions to die.
He brought the corpses of the ten lions to the stone den.
The stone den was damp. He asked his servants to wipe it.
After the stone den was wiped, he tried to eat those ten lions.
When he ate, he realized that these ten lions were in fact ten stone lion corpses.
Try to explain this matter.

Everything is Possible.

Music that reminds me of. . .

My Childhood:
     - Destiny's Child, who made their comeback at the SuperBowl!
     - NSYNC, who went Bye, Bye, Bye.
     - Backstreet Boys, my Fire, my One Desiiiiire.
     - Toybox, teaching me that my best friend should "tickle in my tummy," and be "so yummy
        yummy."

     - TLC, reminding me that I don't want no scrub. A scrub is a guy who can get no love from me.

My Family:
     - Anh No. 1, a very embarrassing, 90s, typical Vietnamese song my sister and I used to sing on
        karaoke.

     - Trance and Techno, the days my siblings and I tried to learn how to breakdance.

My Friends:
     - Passion Pit, Two Door Cinema Club, and Uffie reminds me of Eunice, my best friend.
     - Epik High, The Kooks,  Ben Rector, Jason Mraz reminds me of Danny, also my best friend.
     - One Direction, Justin Bieber, and Glee, THAT I DREAD AND FORCED TO LISTEN TO
EVERY MORNING BECAUSE OF MY FRIEND
. Yeah.

Right Meow:
     - Jason Mraz, who taught me to wake up because the dreamer is the real me.
     - US (Michael & Carissa Rae Alvarado), the cutest couple dream team ever.
     - Ben Rector, I never knew I could love someone you like him.
     - Passion Pit, my summer, windows rolled down, highway jam.
     - Imagine Dragons reminds me to keep tip-toe-ing higher.

Favorite Teacher's Favorite Music

  1. Who is your favorite singer, group, or song, and why? Mr. Moore: Bob Dillon (because he was the voice of the 60s), Peter Paul & Mary, Rolling Stones, classical music, modern music, and the Black Eyed Peas. He likes to go around the house singing Fergalicious and his wife gets really embarrassed. Hahaha
  2. Do you go to concerts? Which concerts are most memorable to you? Why? Mr. Moore: "Does the ballet count?"-- His recent, most memorable "concert" is The Nutcracker at the Gillioz and he enjoyed it because of the music. Another recent one is "that five family members that play the piano... There are five family members. They're called The Five. . . Something. . ." He doesn't go to concerts anymore because it's more of a group thing to do. He remembers the Willie Nelson concert from when he was younger, and the deal was if you drink 2 beers, then you can listen to the concert.
  3. What radio stations do you normally listen to in your car? Do you sing along? Mr. Hawxby: 95.5, and yes, only duets with the kids.
  4. Which music or artist was "controversial" or "offensive" to some when you were growing up? Is any msuic offensive to you now? Mrs. Stewart: "The nasty rappers that say the 'f'-word and call girls 'bitches.'" When she was growing up, Jesus Christ Superstar was controversial.
  5. What music reminds you of someone you love? Your child? Spouse? Parents? Mrs. Stewart: Eagles.
Sean: . . . And who do they remind you of?
    Mrs. Stewart: . . . Spouse. . .
And I'm ending this post with some wide words from Mr. Moore:
"Music is part of your identity."
- Mr. Moore

My Life with Music

  1. The type of music I'm listening to determines what my feelings are, or even, how I'm feeling can determine what music I listen to. A lot of the music I listen to are pretty mellow and slow, like Jason Mraz or Ben Rector, and it makes me feel relaxed and calm. More upbeat music, such as Two Door Cinema Club, The Kooks, or Imagine Dragons, makes me feel inspired, creative, and ready to take on life.
  2. My favorite song is "Simple, Starving to be Safe" by Daphne Loves Derby. The song is really relaxing, makes me feel at home and safe, and it brings back good memories! I listened to it every day when I was gone in Japan because I didn't have any cell phone service or Wi-Fi to contact my friends and family, and it was a hard honestly.
  3. Oh my goodness, I went through this stage when I only listened to loud, screamo, alternative music. My taste in music has changed a lot because I can only listen to calm music now. Screamo drives me insane whenever I listen to it today, haha.
  4. I used to be into loud screamo when I was a kid because I had a MySpace and that was the "it" thing to listen to. I'm not sure what happened, but I gradually started to enjoy slower music that I'm able to relate to (and actually understand) today. I'm okay with hip-hop, rap, and things that are frequently played on the radio today, which are what my siblings are into. They don't like my music, but that may be the generation gap between us (my siblings are 8-10 years older than me).
  5. My closest friends, Eunice and Danny, listen to the same music as me, which, I think, is why we get along so well. The friends I hang out with in school like music similar to One Direction, Justin Bieber, and Glee, and I can't relate to them at all. . . They are crazy obsessed with them too, which really creeps me out.
  6. Without music, the world would lack creativity. Then again, I honestly believe that the world would be okay if music was never invented, because we would have never known what it was in the first place, but when it's discovered, it's revolutionary and amazing! This is a lame example but it can be compared to life before and after the cell phone was discovered.

"Let us be grateful to the people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom."- Marcel Proust
