My Life with Music

by

  1. The type of music I'm listening to determines what my feelings are, or even, how I'm feeling can determine what music I listen to. A lot of the music I listen to are pretty mellow and slow, like Jason Mraz or Ben Rector, and it makes me feel relaxed and calm. More upbeat music, such as Two Door Cinema Club, The Kooks, or Imagine Dragons, makes me feel inspired, creative, and ready to take on life.
  2. My favorite song is "Simple, Starving to be Safe" by Daphne Loves Derby. The song is really relaxing, makes me feel at home and safe, and it brings back good memories! I listened to it every day when I was gone in Japan because I didn't have any cell phone service or Wi-Fi to contact my friends and family, and it was a hard honestly.
  3. Oh my goodness, I went through this stage when I only listened to loud, screamo, alternative music. My taste in music has changed a lot because I can only listen to calm music now. Screamo drives me insane whenever I listen to it today, haha.
  4. I used to be into loud screamo when I was a kid because I had a MySpace and that was the "it" thing to listen to. I'm not sure what happened, but I gradually started to enjoy slower music that I'm able to relate to (and actually understand) today. I'm okay with hip-hop, rap, and things that are frequently played on the radio today, which are what my siblings are into. They don't like my music, but that may be the generation gap between us (my siblings are 8-10 years older than me).
  5. My closest friends, Eunice and Danny, listen to the same music as me, which, I think, is why we get along so well. The friends I hang out with in school like music similar to One Direction, Justin Bieber, and Glee, and I can't relate to them at all. . . They are crazy obsessed with them too, which really creeps me out.
  6. Without music, the world would lack creativity. Then again, I honestly believe that the world would be okay if music was never invented, because we would have never known what it was in the first place, but when it's discovered, it's revolutionary and amazing! This is a lame example but it can be compared to life before and after the cell phone was discovered.
